How To: Dressing

“Call me Ranch cuz’ I be dressin'”

An activity that I know very well is dressing up. Of course this is my personal opinion and some people might disagree in a sense that they don’t like my style. So let’s say that you are someone with no real sense of style. And perhaps maybe you would like to present yourself in the best was possible. The first step would be to figure out your body type. Certain types of clothes will compliment clothes more than others will.

The second step is to figure out your style. This can all depend on what type of person you are, perhaps you want to look classy and a bit older. Or, maybe you’d rather sport a youthful look and dress like a skater. Or there is even the casual laid back/fitness lover attire which is always a good luck anywhere in the U.S.

The third step is to of course be confident in yourself. If you like the way YOU look in something then wear it! The only person you should dress for is yourself. And remember, one of the most important things to remember is to always look symmetrical. Humans like symmetry. If you take my advice, you will be the most aesthetically pleasing version of yourself all the time.

XQ Round Table Discussion Reflection

                                            XQ Bus Tours

Vista High was selected as one of the “super schools” to receive a 10 million dollar grant. We all seem to be pretty proud of ourselves to receive this money as we all feel that our school could be improved. The XQ organization was scheduled to be on tour to our school on November 10th and the whole school celebrated with the XQ organization. But before all the celebration happened I was asked along with 20 other or so students to be part of a round table discussion. Simply put, what happened was the people who had gave us the 10 million dollars wanted to have a somewhat personal talk with the students to see how they felt about receiving the 10 million dollars. As it is such a privilege.

We mostly had said good things about or school. Ironically they were asking questions about things that we could improve about our school. It was a very enjoyable experience for me and I was happy I could hear about how other people felt about receiving the grant. I felt that the XQ organization had left feeling that their money was going to be put to good use and they made the right choice when they gave it to our school.

There were many things discussed throughout the discussion though. For them, our discussion was a unique discussion because it was bilingual. I thought that was quite interesting considering how prevalent speaking Spanish is here in the U.S. I’m truly grateful that I go to Vista High School. I don’t think there’s is any other school I care to go to. I feel that our school definitely has it’s own way of doing things and the vibes that are felt here our mostly positive. It’s unfortunate that some people feel that this school is bad or “ghetto” because it’s really not. I’m thankful for the teachers that recommended me to speak in the discussion. That was truly an honor.

Sewing Your Own Clothes

Wikipedia.com

Sewing your own clothing can be something that either you really like or you really hate. If you put in the work and learn from the mistakes that you’ll make, you might be able to see that it’s a very enjoyable experience. There’s something that you should always keep in mind when sewing your own clothes, though, it takes time and effort. If you make something really fast, sure you’ll be done with it but will it look the way you want it to? Perhaps, if you’re highly skilled, you can do it quickly, but I sure can’t. There are plenty of steps to take first before you start sewing and here they are:

Step 1: Sketch out the design of the clothes you’re going to try to make. You want something to follow when sewing your clothes

Step 2: Gather all the materials that you will need to make the clothes. Obviously, you want to make sure you have enough

Step 3: Measure your own body. You want to make sure that the clothes will perfectly accommodate the measurements of your body.

Step 4: Acquire a sewing machine. The type of sewing machine you get depends on how much money you are willing to put into one.

Step 5: Learn how to use the machine properly. You’ll want a friend or maybe use Youtube and figure out how to use it before you start.

Step 6: Start off small. You want to make sure that you have the ability to make something simple.

Step 7: Add any final designs through any desired means.

This guide, hopefully, helped you get started with sewing. Albeit, you’ll need more than what I’ve shown on this post to really get started. As I stated before watching videos on Youtube is a good way to try and learn how to sew. With that said, good luck designing your own clothes.

Changing Oil On Your Vehicle

Flickr.com

Chances are, if you’re over eighteen years old, you own a vehicle. Owning a vehicle will mean that maintenance will have to be performed when required. You could get someone else to perform the maintenance on your car or if you’re like me, an  unemployed high school student, you’ll just do it yourself. Just one word of caution, make sure you are wearing clothes that you are prepared to get dirty!

Here are some steps to changing your oil:

Step 1: Find out if the oil in your car is cold, if it is then let your car run for 5-10  minutes to warm up the oil.

Step 2: Jack your car up on jack-stands.

Step 3: Find the bolt on your oil pan and unscrew the drain plug.

Step 4: Remove your old oil filter if needed.

Step 5: Let all the oil from the oil pan drain out. Make sure you let it drain until it stops dripping completely.

Step 6: Find out how much oil is required to refill your cars oil levels and pour it into the engine.

Step 7: To avoid pollution make sure that you use an oil pan to catch all the oil that you just drained out of your car.

Step 8: Use your dipstick to check if your oil levels are correct.

If you followed these steps correctly, then you have performed a successful oil change. Good job you’re a real mechanic now.

Physical Wellness

How does one maintain physical wellness? Well first lets start off by discussing what it means to be be physically well. A common definition of physical wellness is taking care of your body for optimal health and functioning. But I feel that this definition is rather vague. Physical wellness I feel also includes taking care of your mind not just your body. So what it means to be physically well is to have a healthy mind, and also a healthy body.

Now that I’ve talked about what it means to be physically well, I am going to start talking about how to be physically well. I consider myself to be physically well. I lift weights at least 5 times a week and rest on weekends. Exercise is an excellent way to achieve a healthy body. Although, I suppose you need a healthy body to see any results in the appearance of your body. Without a healthy and determined mind, you won’t see a difference in your body. If you feel that you don’t have a healthy enough mind to be able to change your body, you should try and find an exercise partner so that you won’t have to do it yourself. Perhaps they can even be somewhat of a coach to you.

So then how do you get a healthy mind? There are plenty of ways you can do this, but these are the methods that have helped me. I often times self evaluate and make sure that whatever I am doing, I am doing my best. I used to bottle up all my emotions and I never talked about them, this was a big mistake on my part. I’ve realized that talking about your problems with friends or family is the best thing you can do. Nine times out of ten, I have felt better after talking about my problems. I feel that this has made my mind stronger. Because if your emotions are bottled up, you are just going to have a break down at some point.

This is what I do to achieve physical wellness. This is what has worked for me. But, perhaps there are some alternative ways you can achieve physical wellness…
